Spa Valley Railway

Saturday 10th March and Sunday 11th March 2018

A diesel event will take place this weekend.

Locomotives from the home fleet working should be 2591 D3489 33063 33201 73140

In addition carts Class 207 DEMU 1317 and Class 421 3CIG 1497 should be out.

Buffet Car 'Emily' will be serving hot and cold drinks and light refreshments. Buffet Car 'Kate' will serve light refreshments with real ale/cider available.

Station shop stocking a large variety of diesel traction products, shop will close at approximately 16:30 - 17:30, please make your purchases early in the day!/

Driver for a fiver at Tunbridge Wells West Station with Drewry No. 2591 'Southerham' on Saturday 10th March. .

There will be a barbecue on Groombridge Station.

At Eridge mainline connections with Southern services to Central London, East Croydon, Oxted and Uckfield.

Under-restoration Class 207 DEMU centre car on display.

Didcot Railway Centre

Sunday 11th March 2018

HNRC owned 08742 will be making its last run at the DRC before it leaves to undertake a hire contract.

As 08742 is air brake only 08604 will be translating but 08742 will be doing all the work.

Limited footplate passes for 08742 will be on sale on the day for £5.00.

The centre is open from 10.30 until 16.00 (last admission 15.30).

Normal fares should apply which are: Adults £10.00, Children £7.00, Senior £9.00, Family (2 + 2) £29.00. Gift Aid fares (10% more) also available.


Mid-Norfolk Railway

Friday 16th March until Sunday 18th March 2018

A diesel gala will take place this weekend.

As well as other home fleet locomotives D2334 should be making its debut at the MNR working some interesting trains!

26043 should be visiting from the GWR and 88xxx will be attending courtesy of DRS. 33035 and 45060 are also confirmed visitors.


Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway

Saturday 17th March and Sunday 18th March 2018

A diesel event will take place this weekend.

Diesels in use should be D8568 D8059 31163 37227

D8188 is now unavailable.

A WCRC locomotive will be visiting - will either be a 33, 37 or 47. Another main line locomotive is also expected.

Railcart W55023 will also be trundling up and down the line.

The last train both days will be at least load 11.

Cask Ale will be available and will be from the Loose Cannon, Abingdon Bridge and Rogue breweries.

There will be no steam heating in the carriages, but should the weather be stacked against us our Cambrian Café will be serving plenty of hot coffee and tea, plus hot bacon and sausage baps, al at our usual moderate catering prices!

Bought on the day rovers will cost: Adults £16.00, Seniors £14.00, Adult National Railcard Holders £14.00, Children (5 - 16) £10.00, Family (1 + 3) £26.00, Family (2 + 3) £34.00. Dogs FREE.

There will be a bus link in the form of a vintage Routemaster from Princes Risborough to Chinnor and return on both days that will be subject to the usual caveats. Bus will be free of charge. Chinnor gala bus link times are the following. Princes Risborough Departures are 08.30, 09.30, 10.30 and 11.30. Chinnor departures to Princes Risborough are 14.15, 15.15 16.15 and 17.25. Journey time 20 minutes.

Ecclesbourne Valley Railway

Saturday 17th March and Sunday 18th March 2018

A diesel event will take place this weekend.

Due to operational reasons, the planned visit of D7076 has been replaced by D832 . It is now planned for D7076 to feature on the railway for the August event instead.

Locomotives to be used are 08704 31206 33103 D832

Day Rovers will cost: Adults £17.00, Concessions £15.00, Children £8.50, Family (2 + 3) £44.50. An Adult two-day rover is available at £30.00. No online tickets.

A brake van will be operating on the north (up hill) end of the coaching stock rake for which a small number of supplementary tickets will be available from the Guard.

Bluebell Railway

A diesel gala will take place this weekend.

Locomotives working should be D4106 31271 D182 45041

There will be an intensive service from Friday to Sunday with 3 sets of 6 coaches and in addition on Friday and Saturday the 5.30 departure from Sheffield Park will be a 12 car set.

On Saturday evening there will also be an evening beerex with sausage and mash in the Bessemer Arms.

D4106 will operate a full line brake van trip in the morning. This is pre-bookable only due to limited numbers and the fare will include a bacon roll and tea/coffee to be collected from the Bessemer Arms. Thereafter it will operate brake van trips at within station limits at Horsted Keynes.

Online fares: Adults: One day £25, Two days £40, Three days £50. Children (3-15): One day £12.50, Two days £20, Three days £25. Please note a £1.80 transaction fee will be added per booking for any tickets purchased online. A printing and postage charge of £1.50 per booking will also be added if Printed & Posted tickets are selected. Electronic Tickets are dispatched by email free of charge.

Colne Valley Railway

DMU W55033 will also be in use and 141108 if repairs are completed in time.

Double headed 03s on the 1600 departure from Hedingham as a finale.

Opening Times - All days 10:30 - 17:00 (last admission 15:00).

Peak service frequency of 6 departures per hour.

Entrance Price: Adults £8, Seniors £6, Child £4 or Family £22 (2 Adults & 2 Children), Dogs £2. Book advance rovers

The morning rare track tour, will depart at 1045 and consist of the following: Hedingham P2 - Nunnery Junction Loop - Nunnery Junction Headshunt - Nunnery Junction Main - Hedingham P2 - Drawell Loop - into either Riverside Sidings or Diesel Sidings (depending on space) - Drawell Loop - Hedingham P2. This will be the only train of the gala to visit Nunnery Headshunt and Drawell Loop. And shall take around 25mins.


Chasewater Railway

Saturday 24th March and Sunday 25th March 2018

A diesel event will take place this weekend.

08580 will be working passenger trains courtesy of RSS and 01568 will also be working its first passenger trains in preservation.

The ex-Bescot shunter will be performing throughout the day and also working the Saturday evening "Chip Shop Special".

Derwent Valley Railway

Sunday 25th March 2018

A 25th Anniversary will take place this weekend.

03079 should be hauling a Mark 1 and verandah coach 'Sylvia' as well as being on Driver for a Fiver duties.

Ruston Hornsby 88DS Rowntree Number 3 'Ken Cooke' will also be hauling passenger trains.

D2245 will be hauling freight trains only.

There will be demonstrations of the newly resorted DVLR Pump trolley and also the Wickham trolley.

Helicopter rides incur an extra charge. Helicopter number not known as yet but should be a winner for everyone!

Llanelli and Mynydd Mawr Railway

Saturday 31st March 2018

The L&MR have acquired NS690 [625 EE2122/56] very recently and it will be working passenger trains on this Saturday.

Day Rovers cost £4.00 for Adults and £5 for Children (5 - 16) with a free chocolate egg included in child fare.

The event will run from 11am - 4pm.

There will be a buffet car on all trains.

Free site access and parking including access to heritage centre and main shed.

Weardale Railway

Saturday 21st April and Sunday 22nd April 2018

A Class 31 event will take place this weekend.

In use should be 31106 31190 31285 31459 31465

To celebrate the occasion 31106 will be reunited with its old name of Spalding Town and there will be a naming ceremony held on the Saturday of the event.

The line-up of five operating Class 31s is likely to be the biggest for the class during 2018 and all the locomotives will be seen working on Inter-City liveried Mk2 stock. If possible other Class 31s which are out of service will be positioned where they can be photographed from passing trains.

Event runs 9.00am - 19.00pm both days.

Rover tickets will provide for unlimited travel on any train and there is a discount for rover tickets covering more than one day.

Adult weekend rovers £40 (child/concession £35), one day rovers £25 (child/concession £20).

Epping and Ongar Railway

Saturday 28th April and Sunday 29th April 2018

A diesel gala will take place this weekend.

We are delighted to be welcoming two rare Class 08s to the Epping Ongar Railway in the guise of 08738 and 08939 courtesy of RSS Railway Support Services. Both locos are ex-Euro Cargo Rail and still carry their distinctive grey livery. To our knowledge this will be the locos first passenger trains.

Class 45 Peak 45132 will be on display and although not operational the the loco will be available for cab and engine room visits.

As usual we will be running a three train intensive service throughout the weekend with late running Beerex on Saturday.

All trains will be running in conjunction with our fleet of Heritage buses which will be operating between Ongar, North Weald, Epping Underground and Shenfield BR stations.

Our on train bars will be serving a selection of local draught beers and ciders as well as a range of wines, lagers and soft drinks.

And for those who would like to see the line from the unique vantage point of a loco cab then we will be offering our unique and popular cab rides for a fiver. These can't be pre booked so just approach the driver on the train you wish to travel on.

Driver for a Fiver will also be available using 03170 .

New for 2018 will be brake van rides using 03170 into Epping Forest alternating with its Driver for a Fiver duties.

Day Rovers: On the day: Adult £18; Child £12; Family (up to 2 adults and 3 children) £49.

Foxfield Railway

Saturday 5th May and Sunday 6th May 2018

A diesel gala and beer festival will take place this weekend.

Home industrials in use should be Rebuilt Thomas Hill 111C/1961 Bagnall 3150/1960 Bagnall 3207/1961 YEC 2868/1962

In addition D9531 from the ELR will be visiting.

This is the first time a Class 14 has ventured to Foxfield and it will be operating alongside the home fleet of industrial diesels, running both passenger and freight trains over the weekend.

Plans also include a mini beer (12 guest ales) and cider (4 guest ciders) festival with evening live music and beer-ex trains also there will be 2 bars at Caverswell Road Station.

There will also be soft drinks and snacks available.

Fares TBA.

Hopefully a roster will be procured.


Swanage Railway

Thursday 10th May until Sunday 13th May 2018

A diesel gala and beer festival will take place this weekend.

Working from the home fleet should be 33012 33111

Visiting should be 20007 20142 26007 D7017 50049 667xx with the possibility of others.

The ever popular Dorset Beer Festival will return to Corfe Castle station, where the railway's own ‘Old Pusher’ ale will be on sale. Other attractions include the museum at Corfe Castle, and trade stands at Swanage.

On both the Friday and Saturday evenings the popular ‘Beerex' train will be operating alongside London Underground’s 4TC in ‘Push Pull’ mode with 33111 Traction for the Beerex services will be confirmed nearer the time.

Heritage Shunters Trust

Saturday 12th May and Sunday 13th May 2018

A diesel gala will take place this weekend.

Featuring on one or both of our two day galas this year should see the re-debut and return of Class 14, D9525 and unique Class 06, as D2420 in its new green livery. The first time in over 30 years a Class 06 has been seen in green!

Brakevan rides, single rides, or all day riding tickets are available on each day for both galas. An eclectic mix of shunters will be used for all of our shuttles on all of this year's above running days.

Come and see beautifully restored D2205, D2139 and 03113 all vying for attention.

Come and also see PWM650 and PWM654 together, the only place in the country where you will ever be able to see this.

Ride behind "Little Gems", Class 01, D2953 and Class 02, D2854, usually paired together on brakevan shuttles.

At the gazebo will be a revamped sales stand where tickets to ride can be purchased and you will be given a complimentary stock sheet.

If you want a relaxed, enjoyable day out, with convivial company, informative guides and members who are passionate about their collection and who are more than willing to share their passion, please visit us on at least one of the 2018 galas. Not only that but another big bonus is that every penny raised from these events goes towards the restoration and conservation of a totally unique collectio of locomotives.

On Friday enjoy 90 miles of thrash with 31101 and 31130 with some non-stop runs.

The day rover for this Brushfest costs £20 with a preview of the beer festival on Friday afternoon, free entry to the beer festival on Friday evening and a complimentary pint of ale.

On Saturday the Class 31s will be out again although not running such an intensive service as Friday.

The day rover for Saturday costs £12 including train rides, entry to either the afternoon or evening session of the beer festival and a complimentary pint of ale.

BLS/PLEG Eastleigh Bash

Saturday 2nd June 2018

Update: All trips are now full.

BLS/PLEG have organised a bash around Eastleigh Works using various shunters and the red BLS van 'Molly' as stock.

There will be four trips over the course of the afternoon and each trip will cost £45.

PLEG members pay the same as BLS members and you don't need to enter your membership number just leave the box blank.

Please note 08567 is not currently serviceable. Eastleigh are endeavouring to have it back in service by the time of this event but that is by no means guaranteed. Therefore you are advised not to book yet if 08567 is your sole interest in this event, though of course all trips may sell out in the meantime, so there is a risk. We will send out an update regarding the availability of 08567 nearer the event.


West Somerset Railway

Friday 8th June until Sunday 10th June 2018

A diesel event will take place this weekend.

The theme is planned to celebrate the 1970s and 1980s when a great variety of diesel locos were called on to haul holiday trains to the seaside all over the UK, and in particular (but not exclusively) the west country. On the Friday and Saturday all services will be diesel hauled with a limited number of steam hauled trains booked for the Sunday along with the diesels.

There are plans to have a full Beer Festival at Williton Station for the weekend and some evening trains will be operating to allow people to attend this as well as enjoying the sights and sounds of hard working diesels on the WSR's gradients.
