Churnet Valley Railway

Friday 19th October until Sunday 21st October 2018

A 40th Anniversary diesel gala will take place this weekend.

Diesel locos in use should be: D3800 33021 33102

Industrial YEC Janus no. 2748 "6 Roger H Bennet" should also be having a spin.

Teapots should be USATC S160 No. 5197, TKH No. 2944,

A 2-train service including trains over the steeply graded line up the Cauldon lowe branch to Ipstones Loop along with a regular service along the Churnet Valley branch between Froghall and Leekbrook Junction.

Leekbrook Station building will be open to the public for the first time.

Cheddleton locomotive works will be open to view progress on the restoration of 8F No. 48173.

Froghall Tearooms (The Signal Tearooms) will be open from 10:00AM serving the usual hot meals, cold meals, snacks, homemade cakes and much more. There will be lunches available to order from 12:00 AM while you take a seat in our tastefully decorated tearoom. Cheddleton Tearooms (The Good Shed Tearooms) will be open from 10:00AM serving light bites snacks, sweet treats, ice creams with teas and coffees. Bacon baps and Sausage baps will be readily available while you view all the locomotive swaps taking place.

Spa Valley Railway

Friday 19th October until Sunday 21st October 2018

A diesel gala and the annual CAMRA Real Ale & Cider Festival will take place this weekend.

Visiting will be 31430 and it will be the last run of D7612 before returning home to the SDR.

Home fleet used on Friday should be 31430* D7612 33063 and Saturday/Sunday D7612 31430* 33063 should be out. *=Subject to completion of repairs. 73140 will now be standby locomotive all weekend.

The Friday and Saturday Beerex should be D7612 on the Tunbridge Wells end and 31430 Erigde end.

An Adult day rover costs £20 with multiple days available also Full Event Information and Advance Rover Booking

CAMRA members can travel for £15 for the day when membership a card is produced. Only available at the booking office.

Great Central Railway, Ruddington

Saturday 27th October and Sunday 28th October 2018

A diesel event will take place this weekend.

Locos in use should be: 08784 (Sunday only) which will haul selected trains between Ruddington South Junction (Fifty Steps) and Ruddington Fields on the inbound journeys plus others (TBC).

A special timetable is still to be confirmed but will feature both Steam & Diesel services including Prototype HST 41001

Standard GCRN ticket prices will apply but there will be no discounts available on this day.

An intensive service will operate between Buckfastleigh and Totnes Riverside and there will be a bar on every train.

Great Central Railway (Ruddington)

The Screaming Valentas.

A special, low-cost railtour with a difference as BLS partner with 125 Group and East Midlands Trains (EMT) to take a newly refurbished EMT (ex-Grand Central) six coach HST set from Derby to the Great Central Railway (Nottingham), using the connection off the mainline at Loughborough South Jn. Traction is expected to be two EMT buffer fitted powercars as far as Ruddington, where one EMT power car will be removed in favour of 125 Group operated prototype powercar, preserved, 41001.

First Class passengers will benefit from inclusive hot drinks, light snacks, and free Wi-Fi whilst a range of drinks and light refreshments will be available to purchase from the Buffet Car, including a choice of real ales. The charter will be raising funds for 125 Group in support of their recently launched HST Depot Appeal. See 125 Group for details. A 125 Group and Branch Line Society sales stand will be provided, with iconic industrial designer Sir Kenneth Grange on hand to autograph your souvenirs and memorabilia. As usual, a charity raffle will take place with some fantastic prizes on offer.

Timings and routing are provisional and now submitted to Network Rail for validation: Derby P6 (pick up 08.29) – Chaddesden Sidings (carriage roads 1, 3 or 4 requested) (reverse) – Pilot Line – Derby P7/service platform – Pilot Line – Loughborough South Jn (reverse) – Rushcliffe Up Platform – 50 Steps (reverse) – Ruddington Fields P1.

Whilst at GCR(N) a number of unusual moves are planned to include Ruddington Relief Road, Rushcliffe Up Loop in full including use of Rushcliffe bay platform, both sides of 50 Steps Loop and both main platforms at Rushcliffe Halt.

Ruddington Fields P1 – 28 Points (reverse) – Ruddington Fields P2 (reverse) – 50 Steps (reverse) - Loughborough South Jn – Leicester Up & Dn Slow – Knighton Jn (reverse) – Leicester P1 (set down - time:TBC) – Up & Dn Goods (Humberstone Road) – Toton High Level Goods – Ilkeston Jn (reverse) – Toton Centre - Derby P5 (set down 18.38).

FARES: Standard Class £41.01, First Class £62.00.

Accompanied under 18s benefit from a £20.00 reduction in all fares. Please note that we are unable to accept bookings from under 18s unless accompanied by an adult.

10.30 & 12.00 (two identical trips): West Coast Railways (WCR) with BLS and PLEG are delighted to announce a rare Track & Traction event at WCR's Carnforth base. This is raising money for The Brooke Hospital for Animals and also
Compassion in World Farming

Max 64 participants per trip in a TSO; 03196 and 08485 will operate 'top & tail' for about 60 minutes.

A condition of site entry is that participants must follow stewards' instructions and, although photography for personal use is permitted, no images may be shared on social media, Flickr etc or published in the railway press or otherwise.

Subject to line availability, (which should be better than usual as three trains are due out)/operational constraints, the train will cover as many tracks as safely available in 60 mins.

The event will run from 11am - 4pm.

There will be a buffet car on all trains.
