Kent and East Sussex Railway

Saturday 13th July 2019

PLEG/BLS The Andrew Wilson (Brillo) Memorial Charter, Sat 13th July.

In conjunction with the BLS. A spring Society charter on the delightful Kent & East Sussex Railway. Formed of passenger stock (not brakevans) it will traverse the much requested Rolvenden Carriage Shed Road No2 and includes a full line return trip between Tenterden and Bodiam. Haulage interest is provided by the much sought after 08888 enjoying its first advertised run at the railway - or indeed anywhere ever? A 'Top & Tail' loco (D9504 expected) will assist with the reversals.

Requested route: Tenterden Town (approx 12.00) - Rolvenden - Wittersham Road - Northiam - Bodiam - Northiam - Wittersham Road - Rolvenden - Rolvenden Carriage Shed (Road No2 requested) - Rolvenden - Tenterden Town (approx 15.00).

Fare for all £20, Under 18s (must be accompanied by an adult) £10.

A mixed traffic gala will take place this weekend

08490, 27050 (Sun ONLY) and 31327 (Sat ONLY)

08 490 will run to boat and back each day with the catering coaches. A passenger coach will be provided for anyone wishing to travel behind it. It will do driver for a fiver at Boat during the day. 31 327 will run two round trips on the Saturday and will then be on royal Scotsman duties on Sunday. 27 050 will run the two round trips on the Sunday.

ITG 30th Anniversary Diesel Gala

Saturday 12th October 2019

A39R, 146 and G617 are expected to feature.

The Irish Traction Group (ITG) is to hold a Diesel Gala at the Downpatrick & Co. Down Railway on Saturday 12th October 2019 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the formation of the ITG. This event is also being supported by the Irish Railway Record Society (IRRS) who will be operating their own connecting service to the event.

The Gala will commence at around 11:50 and run to around 16:00. Motive power used during the day should feature ITG locomotives Nos. A39R, 146 and G617 (all locomotives subject to availability). The Gala should also feature the Downpatrick & Co. Down Railway’s own 80 class railcar set Nos. 69 + 749. Services will operate between Downpatrick station and Inch Abbey, and Downpatrick station and Magnus’ Grave. Unfortunately, the “back loop line” linking Inch Abbey with Magnus’ Grave will not be available for use on the day due to ongoing permanent way work.

Fares: Day Rover: £10.00 / €12.00 ITG/IRRS/DCDR members, £15.00 / €17.00 non-members

Connecting Services: The ITG will also be operating a special connecting coach from Dublin to Downpatrick and back to connect with the event. Pick up/set down times are as follows: Red Cow Luas Stop (08:45pu/19:10sd) – Dublin Heuston (St. John’s Road 09:00pu/18:45sd) – Dublin Airport Coach Park (09:30pu/18:15sd) – Downpatrick (11:30arr/16:15dep). The fare for this coach connection is £18.00 / €20.00. Places on the connecting coach MUST be reserved in advance, stating your full name, number of passengers, and intended boarding point. A contact mobile telephone number should also be provided.
