Times to be confirmed but we will probably run for an hour between 19:00-20:00.

This will provide haulage fans that are at events in the north of the country this coming weekend another opportunity to ride behind these two rare locomotives.

We have also picked this date because there are two other events on in the south east, namely the Spa Valley diesel gala and the BLS London Underground charter train.

The fare will be £10 in cash on the evening with all monies handed over to our host.

We hope you can join us!

Spa Valley Railway

Saturday 19th August and Sunday 20th August 2017

A Deltic Day will take place at this railway.

These trains will only call at Groombridge and not at High Rocks. For those travelling to Eridge on the national rail network there is plenty of time to connect onto the 10:30 departure.

Standard fares apply to both days so a day rover is just £12 per adult, £11 Senior, £6 Child, Family £31 (which works our at £2 per return trip for adults). It is planned to operate a four car train behind the Deltic and to enable 55019 to operate in both directions the final hauled bit into our stations at either end will be with a shunting locomotive 09026 or D3489 . This will be from the bridge by Tunbridge Wells West Signal Box and from the points at Eridge into the platforms. For those unaware a Deltic is slightly too long for our headshunt at Tunbridge Wells West and we lack run around facilities at Eridge.

Trains will cross at Groombridge on both days, connections via Southern at Eridge are possible for the 10.30 Deltic departure on the Saturday, our station will be open early enabling you plenty of time to buy your ticket and get a cup of tea before boarding the train at around 10.15.
